Item Description
This version was issued only to retailers and is much rarer than the small-sized calendar which retailers issued to their customers. Both calendars have same design with 12 monthly calendar pages featuring superb color art done by the Disney Studios. This larger version is 14x30" (the smaller calendar is 8.25x20"). Issued in 1942 by John Morrell & Co. Each page features large scene followed by text that includes additional small character illustrations, at bottom of each sheet is product advertising. In order from Jan. to Dec. the titles are "The Three Little Pigs, Society Dog Show, The Ugly Duckling, The Funny Little Bunnies, Donald's Golf Game, Farmyard Symphony, Brave Little Tailor, The Band Concert, The Grasshopper And The Ants, The Old Mill, Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Back of the Dec. page includes photos of their packing plant. Mailing tube has 4x6" glossy paper label featuring Mickey and Pluto plus text "Happy New Year Everybody." Addressed to Johnstown, PA. store. Label and tube have moderate scattered trace of aging but label remains complete and still retains a glossy appearance. Tube is Fine. Jan. page has 1x3" area at top center with some color rubs due to metal hanger rubbing against it as rolled. Moderate scattered margin wear to all of sheets, first six have a 5" tear along left margin. All art remains bright and clean. Overall Fine. The only example we've seen of this variety with the mailing tube. Additional photos available on line. This is the actual example as shown in Tomart's Disneyana update #34. From the Tomart Archives and comes with COA signed by Tom Tumbusch & Ted Hake.
