This is a great and rare 1.25” real photo sepia button which has the most subtle of condition issues that do not detract at all visually. The button reads “For President/Alton Brooks Parker.” We are aware of only one other button to use the full name “Brooks” rather than the initial “B” (Hake #3056). While the button displays essentially Mint, on the closest inspection there are 3 craze lines in the celluloid all of which are nearly invisible unless the button is viewed under magnification. One is on his cheek at right, one crosses his ear at right and one is on the sepia bkg. at right. In addition, there are a couple of very tiny air dots just above the end of his last name. The only other flaw, again all but invisible, is a virtual pinpoint nick on the celluloid at his left cheek. This barely goes through the celluloid surface and again is all but invisible unless magnified. Button is complete with rare paper of Baltimore manufacturer “J.T. Selby, Maker Of Photo Buttons/Badges/And Novelties.” Among the rarest 1904 Parker buttons and still displaying Mint.
