Item Description
5" tall with gold text designating "Delegate/National Pure Food And Drug Congress/Washington D.C./Jan. 18-21, '99." Tiny trace of old adhesive on the reverse blank top edge but overall condition is NM. The United States campaign for "Pure Food" began in the 1880's and resulted in the 1906 passage of the "Food And Drug Act." The General Federation of Women's Clubs was very active and urged women to boycott products their local grocer would not guarantee as pure. This rare artifact is from the convention held in D.C. at Columbia University Hall.
