Item numbers 1145 through 2874 in auction 209
Item Description
Stiff cardboard box is 2.5" by 3.5" by 1-5/8" deep. This box was used to ship a live turtle. The mailing label has some stains and tiny missing pieces of paper but is largely intact. There is a printed image of Pinocchio saying "Hi-Ya! Meet My Friend-'Lucky' Turtle!" Each side panel has a cardboard sealing tab and on each of these sides are images including Mickey, Jiminy, Geppetto, Dopey, Pinocchio, Cleo. On the underside of the box is Snow White plus her seven friends with cartoon balloon reading "We All Appear On 'Lucky' Turtles!" In the lower corner is Donald saying "Me Too!" This text refers to decals which were placed upon the turtle's shell. One side panel has instructions for care of the turtle along with 1938 copyright of the issuer H. Fishlove & Co., Chicago "Exclusive Licensee For Turtles By Walt Disney Enterprises." On the opposite side which includes two air holes is the large text "Live Turtle/No Food Or Water Required Enroute/Keep From Heat Or Cold/Perishable." c.1940. Other than the age shown on the mailing label the remaining condition of the box is Fine. A curious rarity.
