With this issue, noted Golden Age greats Joe Simon and Jack Kirby begin their run of distinctive covers for Adventure Comic. As they assumed the art duties for Sandman, they came up with a stunning series of highly imaginative covers. This one has to rank among the best they ever did. Over in the Hourman story, Thorndyke replaces Jimmy, Hourman’s assistant. The pages are off-white to white. The unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census, this copy is tied with one other as the highest-graded one they have seen. It is also recognized as having belonged to the collection actor Nicholas Cage.
