Item Description
Early covers for Detective Comics were always thrilling as well as entertaining. This one still holds a note of the original mystery of Batman. His posture behind the chimney is one of complete concern. Shortly after this cover, Batman would start to lighten up. The cover art is attributed to both Batman creator Bob Kane and long-time Batman artist, Jerry Robinson. Writers on this issue include Bill Finger and Jerry Siegel. Interior art is contributed by Kane, Robinson and Sherman. The Crimson Avenger gets anew costume in a back-up story. The pages are off-white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 8.0 (VF). According to the CGC Census this is the third highest-graded copy they have seen.
