DC never shied away for their support for the war effort. From bond solicitations on the covers of their books to outright declarations of patriotic fervor, DC never came across as anything less than sincere in their effort to support America during the war years. This cover doesn’t get the attention some of the other war-themed covers get. There is no flag, there are no pleas for support, but it is one of the most personal in DC’s long cannon of great covers. Flanked by the three big branches of the Armed Forces, Lois Lane is openly declaring her appreciation for the sacrifices those soldiers are making. It perfectly captures Superman’s humble nature in the face of the evil that was facing the real world. The book contains stories by Don Cameron and Joe Samachson. Ed Domrotka and Tom McNamara contribute interior art. The pages are off-white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 9.0 (VF/NM). According to the CGC Census this copy is tied with four others as the third-highest graded copy they have seen.
