Item Description
Lou Fine created this classic comic cover. For the first three issues, the book was known as Wonder Comics. The publisher, Fox Features Syndicate was trying to get a grasp of the suddenly expanding superhero market so they came up with putting a costumed hero on this anthology title. The cover features a costumed hero battling an unknown and strange menace. That is all a good comic needed to attract attention on the newsstand in 1939. However, the content was not limited to men in capes. Other characters featured include Spark Stevens of the Navy, Patty O’Day Newsreel Reporter and K-51 Spies at War. The title lasted 33 issues until it was canceled in 1932. Artists who worked on this book include Eisner, Fine and Powell. Eisner’s contribution is Yarko. The pages are white. This unrestored book is CGC-certified 4.5 (VG+). According to the CGC Census this copy is the third-highest graded copy they have seen.
