Auction #211 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1196 in auction 211
Item Description
These five pieces are from the 1948 Dewey vs. Truman election era. First is a celluloid domed 8-ball with a metal tension clip on the back to serve as a fastener. Next is an 8-ball designed litho button. First we've seen of the domed celluloid. Both are Mint. The next three buttons, all with the same letters, consist of a 13/16" litho and a pair of .75" celluloids each with slightly different typeface. On the back of the litho is a paper from the original collector reading "Tired Tax Payer/Anti-HST/Weisel." The name Weisel refers to Leon Weisel, an early APIC member who conducted auctions in the 60s-70s. The litho has a tiny bit of paint loss from the upper stroke of the first letter "T" but otherwise all three are Exc. to Mint.
