27 buttons each 7/8" and all with W&H back paper. Each includes President's name with sponsor name on top edge "Rice-Schmidt-White." These three Baltimore bakeries joined three additional bakeries to form City Bakery Co. in 1914. This set is from early 1914 and includes Presidents Washington through Wilson. The Washington has .5" hairline of cello not tucked under the collet but it lays flat and displays Mint and all the other buttons are NM to Mint. The set comes with a 7x7.5" thin cardboard which was given to participants to collect the 27 buttons and then to be turned into the company to enter into a contest to have a chance at winning $500.00 in gold that "Will Be Distributed Among The First 235" submitting complete cards. The card is ink stamped with the company name and date of Feb 7 1914 although from the upper right a 1.5x3" piece was removed where the collector's name and address was once written. Card has numerous pin holes from the attachment of the buttons and a pair of 2" tears towards the bottom. On the blank reverse two strips of what seem to be archival tape were added to reinforce the edges. Our last set without this collecting card in Auction #210 realized nearly $800.00. Scarce as a set and the card is certainly a rare addition.
