Item Description
1.25" with spring pin holding three ribbons and celluloid elephant charm. Additional text on the button "Topeka, July 23, 1936." While the design looks identical to Hake #18 in the first edition all color version of that book the photo of this button appears to have darker brown color on his hair, suit, tie, and the background area. We are not sure if this button which has a more all over yellow color is a distinct variety or whether the color is simply deceiving in our first edition book. Either way the design is identical and the book example has 2004 Guide value of $500.00. This example has three tiny and faint 1/8" scratches around his cheek at left but just barely catching reflected light and mentioned only for full accuracy. Condition is NM and the button displays glossy Mint. Julie Powell Collection.
