Item Description
First is 1-3/8" medal picturing on the front and reading "Dr. Hugo Eckener 1929." Reverse has raised image of the globe with a zeppelin crossing it surrounded by text "First Around The World/Z127." Exc. Second is 15/16" brass token with portrait and text "Amelia Earhart/First Woman In The World To Fly Alone Across The Atlantic Ocean May 21, 1932." Small luster loss from her portrait. Reverse shows plane and City of Philadelphia seal with rim text "Award Of The City Of Philadelphia/Presented By Mayor Moore At The Gimbel Banquet October 5th 1932." Reverse luster is Mint. Next is heavy brass medallion with loop at top and 1-7/8" tall. Front reads "Mayor's Committee The City Of New York." Reverse text has engraved name along the bottom edge "William Robert Cassel" with raised text "Commemorating The Heroic Non-Stop-Flight Of The 'America' New York-Ver-Sur-Mer, France June 29th July 1st 1927 42 Hours/James J. Walker Mayor." Minor luster loss. Last is a 3.5x5.5" real photo postcard showing the plane with the three men identified lower right "Lieut. Towers/Glenn Curtis/Lieut. Porte." Caption at left "Transatlantic Flyer 'America' Christened With Great Western Champagne." NM.
