Auction #212 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
Smallest buttons are 1.25" while the larger round ones are 2.25" and the one oval is 2.75". Group begins with an unusual paper covered button showing player with slogan "Yeah! Team" and with spring pin holding a die-cut paper "Central" pennant which has two minor creases. Next is the first dated button from 1928. Next is the oval "Wallop The Wizards" from 1932. Next is from 1937 and the following two, one plus a duplicate, are from 1938. Next are 1940, 1942, 1946, 1947 plus a slightly more worn duplicate, and 1948. The 1947 duplicate is a little concave and colors aren't quite as bright as the other one. The only one with some visible stain is the 1942 with three small areas around the school name and date. This button is unusual in that it has a pair of school color ribbons but they are held by the collet at the top rather than at the bottom. Apparently this button was meant to be pinned on by these ribbons but it does hold a spring pin. Team photos appear on six different buttons plus two duplicates. Many of the buttons carry the name of the Minneapolis maker Wendell's. All are very limited issues.
