Auction #212 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 988 in auction 212
Item Description
Buttons are 1.25" and identical and also in NM condition displaying Mint. One holds a red fabric ribbon and this is intact except for a tiny 1/16" nick along the upper left edge and a little bit of thinness around the date area where the reverse pin touches. The second ribbon in cream color has split just below the button with the upper segment having multiple splits and the lower segment has four or five significant horizontal splits but this part will still display as quite intact. Each ribbon includes text at top "Griffith Stadium Washington D.C. July 7, 1937" and then goes on to list the "American League" team under "Joe McCarthy Mgr." while below is a listing for "National League" with "Bill Terry Mgr." Many famous players are named along with their positions and these include Grove, Gomez, Dickey, Foxx, Gehrig, Cronin, DiMaggio, and from the National League Hubbell, "Dizzy" Dean, Hartnett, Mize, and others. The only two examples we have seen.
