Item Description
First is 1.75x3x3.5" tall 3-D bust with "Butler" name panel. Panel down to base is glazed while bust itself is unglazed Parian ware (bisque). c. 1884 or earlier. Mint. Next is 3.25x3.25x3-1/8" tall but missing a lid that featured a Civil War kepi on top. Unpainted bisque. Slogan on missing lid edge read "A Match/For Anyone" plus text "Contraband Of War Set Them At Work." Ornate makers mark under the base. This item is c. Butler's run for president on the Greenback party ticket in 1884, but the text is inspired by his Civil War military career. Pair of .5" and 3/8" faint tan hairlines by an upper corner. Rest is clean. Julie Powell Collection.
