Item Description
Both of these are real photo buttons without dot pattern. The first is 1.5" with convex tin back and fixed horizontal pin. Top edge of photo reads "K.S.N." and bottom edge is dated "'99." Shown are fifteen young men some wearing pull overs and others with what appear to be padded jerseys that lace up the front. Two of the players recline in the front row. The young man on the left is Black and the young man on the right cradles what appears to be a football with a tiny "99" date on its side. Next is 2.25" with tin back and fixed horizontal bar pin. In addition to the word "Rah" which is repeated nine times the additional text is "U North Western 1901." Pictured are one older man and sixteen younger men. Some wear pull overs and others have jersey with shoulder pads. The man to the right of the back row is Black and the man at the center of the middle row holds a football in his arm inscribed with the date "01." Both pieces are glossy and NM displaying Mint. A pair of rarities and certainly the earliest integrated college team football buttons we've seen.
