Item Description
Large 2-1/8" button, one of three different known designs, all c. 1900 intended for those at a Shriner's fraternal convention in Troy, N.Y. The resting camel wears a Shriner's Fez and also the shirt company's collar with a small bow tie. A lodge initiate stands in his black socks, pantless, wearing one of the company's shirts as he grasps a rope. He wears a blindfold and his hair is standing on end as he awaits the initiation ritual. The button is in superb color and includes bright gold accents on the camel's blanket, reins and saddle. Reverse back paper has large company trademark with additional text "Shirt Collars And Cuffs-Nobel Goods For 'Noble's' Wear." Paper also specifies W&H as the maker. Far right front has pinpoint black speck imbedded in the celluloid as made at three o'clock. High gloss and NM. Among the very best of the early product advertising pin-back buttons.
