Item Description
Designed by Christian Golbrecht, the Liberty Head design found on $5 gold coins from 1839-1908, is similar to that found on other U.S. Liberty Head Coins. It features a bust of Liberty and the date on one side and a representation of an eagle on the reverse. The earlier varieties had no motto, while the later Type 2 varieties of 1866-1908, featured the motto above the eagle on the reverse.
