Item Description
Large 29.5" dia. painted steel sign made to resemble an RCA Victor record w/center having interchangeable insert. Front side of display has two areas painted w/groove highlights to replicate record appearance. Center label area is encircled by metal ring that can be removed via clips on reverse as designed so record label inserts that were made of thin glossy black paper (featuring actual recordings of the day) could be interchanged. Inset that comes w/this sign features Duke Ellington Orchestra song "Three Little Words," which was featured in the only movie starring Amos and Andy (of radio fame) 1930's "Check And Double Check." Metal portion of sign has some scattered wear/aging and trace oxidation at spots. Insert rim shows wear w/small area of oxidation by clips. Paper label insert has moderate all over rippling and much loss to metallic gold text, though still totally legible. Fine overall. Very rare, this is one of only two known examples. This outstanding sign could easily become the focal point of any record or Jazz collection.
