Item Description
16-5/8x21-7/8" frame contains pen and ink and watercolor original art of DC Comics heroine Black Canary kneeling at chopping block, her hands tied together w/rope and her clothes ragged and torn; one breast is fully exposed and she reacts in horror as swarthy executioner raises axe to chop off her hands. Art was crated by Ernie Chan (1940-2012), a comic artist who worked in Filipino comics and got into American comics w/DC Comics in 1972. By 1974 he was working on Conan for Marvel, returning to DC exclusively in 1975-1976. He later returned to Marvel and focused on Conan in the 1980s. Art has been boldly signed at lower right by Chan, who added "1977" date. Art has been professionally double-matted to 9x14.5" and is ready for display. Exc. A stunning original and a truly unique piece for the Chan or Black Canary collector.
