Edgar Church (1888-1978) was a commercial artist from Denver, CO who had a lengthy and prolific career doing art for advertisements, playbills, greeting cards, magazines and more. However his biggest claim to fame was amassing the legendary Mile High Collection of comic books. Offered here is 8.25x11-1/8" artboard w/pen and ink original art for cover of  "1918-19 Fall & Winter Catalog No. 40" Rocky Mountain Region mail order catalog depicting two US soldiers in World War I trench. Some white correctional fluid around "Winter" text and bottom line of text has been cut out and replaced w/piece of artboard attached on reverse at bottom. Reverse also has printer's inkstamp. Original paper overlay attached at top. Art has some editorial notations at bottom but art remains clean and displays Exc. A nice early piece of Church art.
