Item Description
3.5x5-3/8" vintage matte postcard depicting 12 team members in full uniform along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire and a young mascot posed on a ballfield with period baseball equipment in the foreground along with a team banner reading "C.S.C.", matching the logo on their uniforms. Uniform style dates the postcard to the 1910's, the team represented here is a Cuban amateur group, Club Santa Clara. We have been unable to positively identify any of the individuals in the photo but certainly possible that some of these ballplayers eventually went on to play for the powerhouse Santa Clara professional Cuban baseball team in later years. Image quality of the photograph is superb. .50" of image in upper left-hand corner has been obscured along with moderate, even corner wear. Divided postcard back remains blank and unused with scattered staining visible. Artura stamp box dates the card to 1908-24. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
