Item Description
2-1/16x2.5". The 1948 Bowman set marked the company's entrance into the baseball card market. The set consists of 48 cards. The 1948 Bowman series also contains a dozen short prints that were removed from the normal 36-card printing sheet to accommodate high-numbered cards (#s 37-48). Enos Slaughter, nicknamed "Country", was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) right fielder. He played for 19 seasons on four major league teams from 1938 to 1942 and 1946 to 1959. He is noted primarily for his playing for the St. Louis Cardinals and famously scored the winning run in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series for the Cardinals. Some of his career highlights include being a four time Worlds Series Champion and a ten-time All-Star. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985. The autograph on the card is strong and excellently placed in the center of the card and doesn't impede the image. PSA pop report indicates that there have only been two others graded at this level w/seven graded higher.
