The fleeing Davis yells back to the Union soldiers "Let me alone you blood thirsty villains-I thought your government more magnanimous than to hunt down women and children!" An exaggerated re-telling of Davis' May 10, 1865 capture, in which he was apprehended in Irwinville, Georgia, while wearing his wife's overcoat.
