Framed 14x20" tin lithograph made by Sentenne & Green of New York, c. 1880s. Arguably the most famous traveling showman of the American Old West. William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917) served in the Union army during the American Civil War, and later received a Medal of Honor for his actions in the Indian Wars. This tin lithograph was likely printed to promote his traveling "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" frontier-themed show, which was founded in 1883, performing first in the U.S. and later Europe. The facsimile signature "Sincerely Yours, W. F. Cody 'Buffalo Bill" is printed in the lower right. Large size oval-shaped area of lt. wear to litho surface at center, but this wear does not interfere w/Cody's face. Surface shows some small scattered spots of aging/wear. Fine overall and makes for a spectacular display in its gorgeous burled walnut frame.
