Includes slogans such as "Save Our Children", "Stop Racist Attacks", "I Am Somebody", "Reopen the Atlanta Case", and "Stop Killing Our Babies!" These buttons and ephemera pertain to the Atlanta murders of 1979-1981, in which at least 28 children, teenagers, and adults were murdered. Many in the black community in the Georgia city believed these killings to be racially-motivated hate crimes, possibly perpetrated by the likes of the Ku Klux Klan or other white supremacist groups. In 1981, Wayne Williams, a black music promoter and photographer, was arrested in connection w/several of the murders. He was tried and convicted on two counts of murder. He is believed to be responsible for 24 of the 30 killings from 1979-1981 known as the Atlanta Child Murders, although the remaining six are unsolved. Light to moderate wear and handling overall.
