3.25x5.25" vintage matte real photo postcard depicting ten team members in full uniform along w/one gentleman dressed in military attire posed on a ballfield w/baseball equipment prominently displayed in foreground. Team identification at bottom reads "Headquarters Navy Baseball Team taken before game with U.S.S. Texas - July 29, 1918". Photographer's credit at bottom left reads "Denson." Divided postcard back remains blank and unused w/AZO stamp box dating it to 1910-30. What makes this image very special is the inclusion of an African American ballplayer pictured in the back row at left amongst all other white players. It is very unusual to find team photos of integrated baseball teams prior to Jackie Robinson's integration of the Major Leagues in 1947.
