Item Description
2.5x3.25" printed on thin paper. These were originally issued as 5.5x8" sheets w/four cards per sheet that were meant to be hand cut and mounted in a corresponding album. These sheets were actual pages from the Cuban "Sports Almanac" magazine titled "Almanaque Deportivo." There are 160 cards in the set. Set features former and future Major Leaguers along w/Negro League and Caribbean stars.

Nicknamed Dr. Cyclops, Manning began his professional baseball career with the Negro League's Newark Eagles in 1938 and would spend the majority of his playing days in Newark. A member of the championship 1946 Eagles team, Max finished that season withg a record of 11-1 along with the second highest strikeouit total in the league that season. Manning also served four years of military service during World War II from 1942-45.
