Item Description
3.25x5-3/8". The 1960 Nu-Card Baseball Hi-Lites set was a unique baseball set with the format appearing as a newspaper headline, photo and story of some of Major League Baseball's great moments in history. These oversized cards are printed in black-and-white with the headlines written In bold red. At the top of each card is the card number, "Baseball Hi-Lites" title (printed in black and red) and the "Extra" caption as well as the date of when this particular event occurred in baseball lore. The centered photos are in black-and-white and a synopsis of the original story is printed below. The backs feature a baseball quiz. Card #1-18 that are printed only in black on the fronts are considered more valuable and are designated as 1960 CVC Baseball Hi-Lites.
Don James Larsen was an American professional baseball pitcher. During a 15-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career, he pitched from 1953 to 1967 for seven different teams: the St. Louis Browns / Baltimore Orioles (1953-54; 1965), New York Yankees (1955-1959), Kansas City Athletics (1960-1961), Chicago White Sox (1961), San Francisco Giants (1962-1964), Houston Colt .45's / Astros (1964-65), and Chicago Cubs (1967). Some career highlights include a two time World Series Champion, a World Series MVP in 1956 and pitching the only perfect game in World Series History in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series. The autograph on the card is distinct with excellent placement. This signed copy is one of only two examples ever graded by PSA as well as being the highest graded.
