Item Description
19-7/8x25.75" frame contains double-matted tear sheet from the Aug. 9, 1936 issue of "America's Greatest Comic Weekly" newspaper publication featuring near full page (w/Sappo topper strip) Thimble Theatre Sunday page w/large, full body image Eugene the Jeep breaking the fourth wall, partially covering some of the panels featuring the origin of the mysterious animal w/magical abilities who first appeared in the March 16, 1936 Thimble Theatre strip. This later Sunday page, titled "What's A Jeep?" features Popeye and Professor Brainstine discussing Popeye's friend, w/the Professor giving a long, scientific explanation as to the origins of the Jeep, asking Popeye in last panel if he had any other questions, to which Popeye replies "Wha's A Jeep?" to the Professor's obvious surprise. Jeep appears in first panel in addition to large image. Page is evenly aged and displays Exc. as professionally matted and framed under UV plexiglas. A must have for Popeye fans and ready for display.
