14-7/8x19" mat has two openings, one having cardboard attached w/mounted preliminary original art for the cover to Bettie Page Comics: Spicy Adventure #1, published by Dark Horse Comics Jan. 1997. Preliminary art is mixed media and done in the style of the pulp magazines of yesteryear. Art is by veteran comic and pin-up artist Jim Silke (1931-2025) and has been signed in pencil at lower right. Art and colors differ slightly from published comic cover, the issue in question having been mounted to back of mat for wonderful contrast display. Main difference is to turban-clad man restraining Bettie, whose visage was altered to be more menacing for final cover. Exc. and ready for framing.
