Item Description
1-5/16” diameter brass pin w/ornate frame holding faceted glass stones and simulated pearls around a center medallion bearing the Latin inscription plus artist’s name in tiny letters Joh. Dan. At 9 o’clock, the red stone is there but missing a tiny brass bezel that once surrounded it. Produced by the International Alliance of Women, an organization founded by Carrie Chapman Catt in Berlin in 1904 and headquartered in London for most of its existence. A similar example owned by Ms. Catt resides in the Smithsonian Institution. Likely British made and w/correct frame (sometimes seen with no frame).
