Item Description
2" tall, nickel-plated steel badge in Keystone shape to reflect the state's emblem and the design also includes the state seal. These are known for 34 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties. Top reads "Fayette County” in incised letters. Center w/raised letters reads "Pennsylvania Home Defense Police." Bottom has incised serial number "72." Luster loss and light general wear from use. The force was established by the state legislature July 18, 1917. In addition to guarding against sabotage, the officers enforced flu quarantines and helped w/ambulances and hospital work. Fine.
