Item Description
Two sheets of paper folded together to 7x10.25" overall size. Front features original art of preliminary design for "Dick Tracy" w/handwritten "Comic Patches And Standups" underneath. Back features "Florida" design w/outline of state w/swimsuit clad woman and handwritten "State Patches" below it. This concept was finally realized in the 1960s as a cereal premium, but by that time Dick Tracy was no longer involved. Back of inner sheet has "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown sticker. Sheets are evenly aged w/some scattered creasing (more evident to Florida side). VF. Comes w/printed letter to retailer regarding sales opportunity involving Tracy characters (as well as other popular comic characters like Little Orphan Annie, Harold Teen, Smokey Stover, etc.) w/Curtiss candy promotion. Letter notes plastic statuettes of Dick Tracy characters and has copious pencil edits/notations and Tracy image has some penciling as well. Scattered handling wear w/corner creases. Fine overall. One-of-a-kind lot that presents a glimpse into the Gold premium-making process. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold.
