Item Description
Vintage 3.5x6.25" magazine clipping shows Satchel Paige (1906-1982) in St. Louis Browns uniform, seated in chair w/"'Satch'" sign. Clipping has been signed in black ink. Widely regarded as the greatest pitcher in the history of the Negro Leagues, Paige starred for the great Pittsburgh Crawfords and Kansas City Monarchs clubs of the 1930s and 1940s. Joining the Cleveland Indians in 1948 as the oldest rookie in MLB history, Paige would play a major role in leading the Indians to the 1948 World Series. After spending one more season in Cleveland, Paige would play his final three MLB seasons w/the St. Louis Browns from 1951-1953. Paige was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1971. Clipping has evenly aged and has two tiny pin holes at top corners. Still displays Exc. Undoubtedly a unique signed piece. Comes w/JSA LOA.
