Item Description
2-1/8x3-1/8". The 1946-47 Propagandas Montiel series consists of 180 cards depicting athletes, including baseball players and boxers. Card fronts feature bw photos while backs have bios along w/advertising for Cuban stores. An album was issued in conjunction w/this card set, thus accounting for many examples found in lesser condition due to paper loss from album removal. Jimmie Foxx was the foundation that the early 1930s Philadelphia Athletics dynasty was built around. Foxx put up astounding numbers over the course of his 20 season MLB career, finishing with a .325 batting average along with 534 home runs, 1,922 RBI’s and 1,751 runs scored. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. Richard Merkin Collection.
