Item Description
3.5x5.5”. Bold and distinct photo of 18 team members in uniforms along w/Kid Herrman dressed in formal attire, all identified at bottom. © credit to Fred H. Wagner, Chicago. Publishing credit on back Suhling & Koehn, Chicago. This Cubs team would go down in history as one of the greatest single season ball clubs in MLB history, finishing w/a regular season record of 116-36-3, an all-time record for victories in one season, made all the more remarkable because it was done during the 154 game schedule. Chicago boasted a total of four future National Baseball Hall of Famers, including their player/manager Frank Chance along w/his two famous infield counterparts, Johnny Evers and Joe Tinker, as well as starting pitcher Mordecai Brown. Not only would this team be remembered for their phenomenal single season victory record, this iteration of the Cubs would mark the beginning of one of the great dynasties in MLB history as Chicago would go on to win three consecutive NL pennants from 1906-08 along w/two World Series. However, the 1906 Cubs would astonishingly lose the World Series that season to their crosstown rival, Chicago White Sox in six games. Back of postcard has “November 30, 1906” date hand-written along with “Teachers Association”, thus accounting for the technical grade of 1.5 although team image on front presents at a much higher level.
