Item Description
1.25x2-5/8. Colorful art front, text back. Scarce Japanese baseball card issue depicting Mize during his tenure w/the New York Yankees. Other U.S. Major League baseball stars were also included in this series, highlighted by the “Splendid Splinter” himself, Ted Williams. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only third party graded example ever offered at auction. Mize played 15 years of Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and New York Yankees from 1936-53. Mize finished his MLB career w/a sparkling .312 batting average to go along w/359 home runs and 1,337 RBI’s. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981. The Richard Merkin Collection.
