Item Description
Stunning and impressive 7.5" celluloid disc (looks like a giant button) but metal back has a wire easel for upright display. No maker. Features a total of 28 portraits, many wear Pirates caps, names/nicknames included.  Among those pictured are six National Baseball Hall of Famers: Barney Dreyfuss (Owner), Bill McKechnie, Fred Clarke, Max Carey, Pie Traynor and Kiki Cuyler. The 1925 Pirates won the NL pennant w/a final record of 95-58. Pittsburgh would go on to win the 1925 World Series in seven exciting games over the Washington Senators. Metal back has only basic wear w/some of the gold finish off rim but most gold remains otherwise. Front has moderate scattered surface wear mostly only seen upon close inspection/in reflected light. All remains glossy, VF. A truly amazing baseball artifact in terms of rarity, size, design and content. The only other example we've ever offered was from the Paul Muchinsky Collection which had added National League Champions text, and it sold for $1,900 in 2021.
