Item Description
Metallic gold angled prototype NES cartridge for unreleased game, featuring handmade printed labels. Preserved by CGC and encapsulated with Prototype label and No Grade (NG) designation due to its handmade state.
In 1992 American Video Entertainment (AVE) partnered with Color Dreams (known for creating/developing unlicensed video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System) to create this multi-cartridge for the NES. Initially designed to feature games from both AVE and Color Dreams, it was to be sold through an informercial (featuring professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, who hosted the World Video Federation Video Challenge) for three payments of $49.95 (approx. $330 in 2025 money). Ultimately Color Dreams backed out of the deal and AVE eventually reformulated the idea as the MaxiVision 15-in-1 cartridge; paired down to feature just their games due to licensing and manufacturing issues.
Eight examples of the MaxiVision 30 In 1 cartridge were used for the infomercial, but it is unknown if all eight were completed examples as some may have been shell-only mock-ups for display purposes. The example offered here features a unique AVE NINA-08 circuit board with six EPROMs to bank switch through all the game titles. This results in a greater weight, making the cartridge about twice as heavy (185 grams) as a normal NES game cartridge.
It is the only known complete example of this historic prototype to have ever come to auction, presenting a rare opportunity for video game aficionados and serious Nintendo collectors.
