Item Description
10.5x13-3/8" sheet of animation paper features blue pencil original art of IG-88 from the waist up, holding sceptre. Handwritten "Pose 1 - IG-88 Holds Sceptre" w/additional pencil notations along hole punches at bottom relating to the scene from Season 1, Episode 6 - The New King - of the Star Wars: Droids animated series, produced by Nelvana on behalf of Lucasfilm and aired on ABC w/its sister series Ewoks (as The Ewoks and Droids Adventure Hour). This is what's called a Layout Pose, which is essentially a storyboard for 2-3 seconds of screentime. It provides the animators creating the actual animation cels w/layout as to where things should be placed, how and where they move and any interaction they might have w/the bkg. Lower right has been signed in red pencil by Nelvana artist Brian Lemay, a layout artist for the Droids and Ewoks animated series. Lemay has worked in the animation field for more than three decades, working on shows like Inspector Gadget, Smurfs and Care Bears, as well as becoming a teacher and writing a number of books on animation. Exc. Ross Pender Bounty Hunter Collection.
