Item Description
8" tall doll made in Spain by Spanish dollmaker Ernesto Cahn. This company made a wonderful line of Disney authorized dolls in the 1930s for sale only in Europe. All are rare as production was low. Their only company markings were string tags, and this doll's original tag remains attached to top of leg. Doll has high quality mohair body w/felt beak and feet as well as bonnet and cloak (which has string tassels along edge). Hen's eyes and comb are also felt. Wire inserts in wings for posing. Doll's design includes a separate chick doll attached to Hen's back. Evenly aged w/small spot of aging to one eye but o/w bright, clean and Exc. This is the only vintage Wise Little Hen doll we know of and is very rare as such, this the only example we've seen in our 58 years (this very example sold in our March 2020 auction for $1,522). A must-have for Disney doll collectors. Thom Carchedi Collection.
