Item Description
Pair of Mickey Mouse dolls produced during the 1930s, both previously owned by Hollywood legend Shirley Temple (1928-2014) during her time as a child star in the mid-late 1930s. Smaller doll was made by Charlotte Clark, who made a variety of Mickey dolls in different sizes. This example stands 12.75" tall to tips of its ears and features velveteen-covered body w/felt ears, oilcloth eyes, string whiskers and four mother-of-pearl pants buttons. Classic red pants variety. Underside of foot has very faint marks that included "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse." Missing tail as is typical. Doll has even aging to face w/tiny spot of staining and slight fade to red pants, which have small black mark on side. Doll is o/w clean and displays VF. Larger doll was made by Knickerbocker and stands 16" tall to tips of its ears and features fabric body, movable head, hands w/separate fingers, formed fabric shoes w/flocking and four mother-of-pearl buttons on front/back of pants. Complete w/whiskers and portion of rubber tail, both of which are typically missing. Face is aged and exhibits scattered moisture staining, but o/w doll is Fine overall. According to family oral history, these dolls were gifted to Temple by Walt Disney himself.
