Item Description
8.5x11" on thin stock. This handbill was produced for the "Buffalo Booking Agency" of Houston, TX and was likely issued in very limited quantities designed to be distributed to club owners and booking agents. Second billed is "Bill Harvey and Orchestra" featuring "Evelyn Young Sensational Saxophonist". At top left is a youthful photo of B.B. King "The Blues Boy", then only 23 years old w/song titles "Three O’clock Blues", "You Know I Love You" and "Woke Up This Morning". Pen & mostly pencil notation on verso. Tiny chips of missing paper at top & bottom left margins. Two small pieces of clear tape in top third not affecting images or text. Pin hole top center margin and staple hole at bottom left field. Age toning is mostly seen on verso. Fine. Blues material from the 1950s is notably rare and this piece specifically targeting booking agents is notably so. Given King's undeniable place in the annals of American music as ambassador of the blues his cultural importance is unchallenged. This fact combined w/ the superb design of this flyer makes this an exciting opportunity.
