Item Description
Album is 6x10.5" w/32 pages. Issued by Cuban Sweets S.A. and there is no US version of this card set, it is unique to Cuba. Each page is designed to hold three cards and has corresponding card text as well as Cuban Sweets address. Album has complete set of 96 cards mounted at appropriate spots. Cards are 2.5x3" w/color art . Cover title translates as "On The Mysterious Island." Story features characters such as: Pepe the Indian, Samuel Keyon, Isabel The Lady Of Lost Lake, Rickson and others. This set was likely made because of Buffalo Bill's vocal support of US intervention in Cuba around the time of the Spanis American War.  Bill included Cuban rebels in his Wild West shows and even offered his service as a scout to the army. After the conflict he helped popularize the image of the Rough Riders through his shows staging reenactments of battles. Cover has wear and aging w/scattered staining. Creases and wear to covers at spine w/3" archival tape repair at spine to front cover wear it was split. Inside back cover has archival tape reinforcment at one corner. Good. Pages have moderate wear and aging mostly to margins. Fine. Some cards have staining as mounted and lt. wear but overall still display VG to EX as mounted. Rare, especially as complete. The only example we've offered in our 58 years. A foreign rarity for the non-sport collector.
