Item Description
1-3/8” bar pin designed like a ribbon reads “The World” and suspends a slightly convex globe showing the America’s covered in three lines of text: Santa/Claus/Club. Together, the piece is 1.5” tall. We’ve seen images on the net showing the Sunday, December 11, 1892 “Children’s Page” from “The World” newspaper. There is a detailed column about making gifts from inexpensive materials, an illustration of the badge itself and the illustrated order form which was sent in to acquire the badge for the cost of a stamp. NM. A rare piece offered only in the New York City area by famed newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer. NM. Our second. Rare.
