Item Description
2-5/8x3-3/8" tin litho platform base has 6" tall die-cut tin litho jointed figure of Mickey Mouse, his smiling face pointed upwards. Figure is jointed at elbows, hips and knees and stands in front of tin litho sign w/his portrait and "'Mickey Mouse' Slate Dancer" name. When wheel crank on side is cranked, attached metal rod w/tin litho tabs lift and drop the Mickey figure, which is mounted to vertical metal rods on back. This lift and drop motion makes it appear as if Mickey is dancing. Toy works. Unmarked but made in Germany by Wilhelm Krauss, c. early 1930s. A double figure version was also made. Slight red fade on pants/tongue but full deep red remains on backdrop sign. Trace oxidation to one upper leg, o/w toy remains glossy. Tin litho base has some corner tip wear. VF overall. Rare and desirable Mickey Mouse toy w/few known examples. Philip Samuels Collection.
