Item Description
2-7/8" tall. Made in England w/"Paragon" mark on underside alongside "A Christmas Gift From HRH The Duchess Of York - December 25th 1934" text. H.R.H. refers to Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of York, who was at the time Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later Queen Elizabeth to King George VI and then, as of 1952 upon her daughter Elizabeth's coronation, The Queen Mother. These wonderful mugs were distributed to children in orphanages in London and surrounding areas. Mug features choice graphics of Mickey Mouse riding Horace Horsecollar in desert w/1930 Mickey Mouse animated short "The Cactus Kid" title that this scene appeared in. Another image of Mickey holding pistol appears beside title. Small "Walter Disney" name appears at lower left in desert scene. Traditional Paragon accents appear on rim. To left of cactus scene, there is a 2" hairline, which is not overly distracting. Rest of of mug remains bright, glossy and Fine/VF. All Paragon china is highly sought after and this piece is rare, being the only example we know of.
