Item Description
6.5x9.5" artboard has hand-colored black line art of Franken Berry at bottom left w/image of "Strawberry Speedster" premium that was to be issued as box inserts. The Speedsters were to be constructed of miniature General Mills cereal box w/two-dimensional plastic driver figure. This art was created for a c. early 1970s cereal premium conceived for use by both General Mills and Post cereal, but none were ever produced. Large "Strawberry Speedster" text has lines for potential lettering while Franken Berry's word balloon has printed text mentioning other racers in the proposed series, including "Count Chocula's Choklit Chariot" and "Boo Berry's Blueberry Buggy." Lower right corner has small inked "1352" notation. Art is Exc. and mounted in fabric mat, ready for framing. Unique. Comes w/pair of fully realized, racer prototypes, featuring all original art for the cereal box bodies w/plastic axles/wheels. Prototypes were produced for both General Mills' "Count Chocula" w/his image and name as well as "Choklit Chariot" hand-lettered name. The other is for Post's "Super Sugar Crisp" and shows Sugar Bear cereal mascot w/"Super Sugar Crisp Racer" hand-lettered name on side. Underside of both has handwritten "1352" numbe rin blue ink w/"A" added after Sugar Crisp's number. Both have slots on tops for insertion of driver figures (not included). Some lt. wear at these areas, Count Chocula having pair of .25" tears. Super Sugar Crisp box is missing panels w/cereal name that were glued on front/back side of racer. Fine/VF overall. One-of-a-kind lot. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold.
