From a set of 24 for the Superman bread campaign (see previous two lots for rare signs), these were bread loaf inserts issued by several different bakeries. Reverse has imprint reading "Ask For Saylor's Bread - Coming Soon - Superman Bread - Watch For It!"  Title is "Poison In The Air" w/scene of Superman flying toward a dirigible to intercept a plummeting package headed for a water tower. Pledge stamp is #3 "I Promise To Save Tin Foil For National Defense." A complete set of eight stamps were to be sent in as enrollment in the "Superman Junior Defense League Of America" and upon doing so, you received a club badge. Graded a 1 because of typical staining, which is mostly seen on the back, bleeds through only slightly on the front. Front image is still strong and w/rich color. At time of cataloging this is one of just five w/stamp in the PSA Pop Report w/just one higher at a 1.5 Fair. These cards are rare w/stamp still intact and this is the toughest Superman card set to assemble as such. See the next five lots for additional cards.
